Reiki Kyokai believes Western Reiki (Usui and Hayashi) is a complete system in its own right. It was designed for the lay practitioner and functions perfectly for that purpose. When taught, practiced and transmitted correctly it has great merit and many benefits.

There are many excellent Teachers of these systems and Reiki Kyokai strongly recommends you research your chosen teacher before partaking in a course. Read the Attunement/Reiju page and be aware of what you are getting, for your own sake.

Western Reiki is an excellent prelude (although not a pre-requisite) to Eastern Reiki.
Eastern Reiki is not for everyone, it is only for the more serious practitioner who wishes to deepen their understanding, knowledge and healing ability for themselves. It involves work and practice and application for and on self.
