Not all Reiki systems offered are the same.

There are many Reiki styles and the methods that accompany each style differ to a greater or lesser extent. Many teachers have  put their own ideas into Reiki and gradually the various forms of Reiki have changed. As a result,  the passing of information and techniques varies greatly from teacher to teacher.
Naturally teachers bring their own unique styles to the Reiki system.                                                                    

When a departure from traditional teachings occurs it is because a teacher has decided to remove or add elements to the symbols or initiations which are essentially the foundation of the Reiki system.

Some of the confusion regarding the different systems currently available is due to teachers being incompletely trained.

It is important to find the right teacher who can give  the right transmission, methodology and teachings in order to achieve the best results for healing  yourself and others.
